Since we last wrote to you, many things have happened at the New Life School in Manipur, India.  After 20 years of physical and verbal abuse to Vasti and her children from her husband, Vasti was forced to separate from him.  She is the administrator and founder of the New Life School that currently has 297 children enrolled.

As a result, the school, her home, land, etc., is now the property of her ex-husband as he doesn't want to negotiate with Vasti or give her any of the things she has worked so hard to build.  All the teachers wanted to leave the school with Vasti but she begged them to stay and teach until December for the sake of the children.  Her entire life has been dedicated to teaching children and she started the New Life School 11 years ago with onlty 5 students.  She is going to continue to teach and train young children and teenagers. 

In January we hope that all of the students will be able to move to a new school which Vasti is currently attempting to create.  Vasti will start with the 20 orphans currently living with her in her sister's rented home.  She faces much stigma from the village because she left her husband.

Please keep Vasti and her children in your prayers.  We will be working to raise money for new land and a new school when Cosmos (Vasti's brother) returns from Burma and helps us understand what will be most effective in meeting the needs of our children.

Ilowan's Children Healing Teaching Temple is currently gathering school supplies, especially pencils, tablets and very simple children's books to send to Burma so that the children may have something for Christmas.  We are also involved in a quilt making project so that at least some of these children may have a special, heirloom blanket and know that they are loved.  If you wish to help in this project you can email us at ilowan@msn.com .
