DIRECTIONS TO SACRED MOUNTAIN

 

From Boise go out Warm Springs Ave toward Lucky Peak Dam the road will become Hwy 21.  OR take Federal Way to the Gowen Rd.  At the stop light turn left- this road becomes Hwy. 21.  Take Hwy. 21 to Thorne Creek Rd turn off is approximately 32 miles from Boise.  Turn right approximately 1 or 2 city blocks past mile marker 32.  Take Thorne Creek rd. 4.2 miles to the Y in the road.  Continue straignt down the private road for approximately 1 mile, if you turn right at the Y you will come to a deadend very quickly.  You are now on Ponderosa Pine Road.  Continue down this road until you come to the subdivision.  The first house on the right is Wytomi’s, the first house on the left is Elizabeth’s.  To find the Westin’s continue down Ponderosa Pine to Yellow Pine, turn right on Yellow Pine and right again on Tamarack Ave.  Tamarack is our driveway.  To attend a sweatlodge park on the wide place in the road on Ponderosa Pine, walk across the bridge and you are there.

Mother Ilowan’s Sacred Circle

 

Take the Freeway to Meridian.  Leave Freeway at the 2nd Meridian Exit, marked with signs “To Swan Falls.”   This exit road goes both left and right.  Turn left toward Kuna.  Continue on this road to Kuna.  Within ½ mile of the road’s right hand turn toward Kuna there is a Y curve with a stop sign.  This is also marked as the turn to Swan Falls, and Swan Falls road.  Turn left onto Swan Falls RoadContinue down Swan Falls Road to Swan Falls.  Swan Falls is in the canyon so you will go down a winding road into the canyon.  At the foot of the winding road into the canyon there is a dirt road going right.  THIS IS THE TURN!!!  If you miss the turn you will end up in a park at Swan Falls, turn around and find the dirt road, it goes down river.  Follow this road for 4-5 miles until it ends a a water pumping station.  Park in the large parking area.  Our meeting area is 2 miles downriver by some large rocks with trees by the river.

DIRECTIONS TO FOSSIL VALLEY/DEERWATER

 

From Boise take Interstate 84 to Mountain Home.  Take the Mountain Home/Bruneau exit.  Follow the signs through downtown Mountain Home toward Bruneau & Air Force Base.  Watch for signs showing you the Bruneau turn off, which will be to the left.  Continue on the Bruneau Hwy. to the town of Bruneau.  You will see a store/restaurant/gas station at the start of the town to your left, called Valley Merc.  There is a brown sign saying Bruneau and Hot Springs River, and a street sign next the Valley Merc which says Hot Springs Rd. Turn left onto Hot Springs Rd.  Continue down this road about 7.5 miles to a bridge crossing which is to the right. Turn right, cross the bridge (leaving an offering for the troll- a penny or piece of fruit.), and continue down this road for .6 miles or ½ of a mile.  There is a dirt road to the left at this odometer reading.  Turn left and continue down the dirt road for 4 miles.  Turn right at the 3 watering tanks and follow the two tire track to its end.  This is Fossil Valley.  To go to Deerwater follow the original dirt road for another 4 miles...8 miles total from the turn off after the Troll Bridge.  There is a red clay area on the hill to the left and a few tire tracks on the right.  The small canyons are to the right with the tire tracks.

Birds of Prey Canyon

 

Take the Freeway to Meridian.  Leave the Freeway at the 2nd Meridian Exit, marked with signs “To Swan Falls.”  The exit road goes both left and right.  Turn left toward Kuna.  Continue on this road until it ends at a Y curve.  Turn right with the curve of the Y toward Kuna.  Within ½ mile there is another Y with a stop sign.  This is also marked as the Swan Falls Road.  Turn left unto Swan Falls Road.  Continue down Swan Falls Road to Kuna Cave Road.  Turn right onto Kuna Cave Road (marked with a metal sign post).  Continue down Kuna Cave Rd. until it ends at Robinson Road.  Turn left onto Robinson Road.  Robinson Road ends in a Y curve after a mile or so.  Follow the curve to the right.  You are now on a road called Dickman.  Follow Dickman Rd. to it’s end at Can-Ada Rd.  Turn LEFT on Can-Ada.  Follow Can-Ada until it intersects Baseline Rd., Can-Ada curves to the left at this junction.  Continue on down Can-Ada until you come to Victory Road, (this is usually marked as a turn for Celebration Park).  Turn right onto Victory and follow the road until it takes you down into the canyon.  You will be able to see the Information Bldg., parking lot, and boat ramp once you come into the canyon.  Turn to the left (don’t go toward the buildings) and park outside of the gated area.  The meeting place is ½ miles down the road behind the gate.  It is at the big rock which is on an incline to the left after you come to the place where the road is blocked off.

 

 

 

Take the freeway from Boise to Mountain Home. Leave the freeway at the Simco Rd. Exit & follow the road to its end at Hwy 51/67 then turn right toward Grandview.   Turn left onto Hwy. 78 at the stop sign in Grandview.  Follow Hwy. 78 for 2 miles.  Hwy.78  curves at this point...  you want to go straight.  You are now on Mud Flat Rd.  Follow Mud Flat Rd. 39.8 miles to Mud Flat Station.  This is a few scattered buildings you will see to your left, with a sign saying Mud Flat Station.  Continue on Mud Flat Road for 1.5 miles from Mud Flat Station to the turn off, to your left.

The campsites are ¼ mile or .4 miles down this single track road.
